Yeah I like sweetly awkward as a plot topic too if it's not stressed too much and not only repeats two features again and again (what was the case in the read that led to this post).
For sweetly awkward and romantic descriptions I've read some 3rd person views (one was with a little girl in a story from przed, hm what was the title again?). That was done very well, I would relly see such a plot more often.
